Is Supergirl in Superman and Lois season 2?
Melissa Benoist said goodbye to Supergirl when The CW series came to an end, but will she bring the Girl of Steel back in Superman and Lois season 2?
The Arrowverse will bring back the Man of Steel when Superman and Lois returns to screens for its second season in 2022. Fans have been familiar with Tyler Hoechlin’s portrayal of the iconic DC Comics character for over five years now and it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing him on-screen for a long time to come.
We wouldn’t have gotten to know Hoechlin’s hero (or Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane for that matter) if it weren’t for the series’ parent show Supergirl, which introduced us to both characters. Speaking of Supergirl, the former CBS series enjoyed a long and healthy run on The CW before it came to an end with its sixth season in 2021.

While the Girl of Steel wasn’t written out of the Arrowverse, it still marks the end of an era as we will no longer see Melissa Benoist’s heartfelt hero on our screens for weekly adventures. Or will we? Will Benoist be making her presence felt as the Girl of Steel in the second season of Superman & Lois? Let’s discuss.
Is Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl in Superman and Lois season 2?
There is no definitive answer as to whether or not we will ever see Melissa Benoist on Superman and Lois, but if she were to return to the Arrowverse, this would be one of the most likely options.
This is something that the Supergirl star confirmed herself when she spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of returning to Kara Danvers one day, telling EW:
"“I am not opposed to putting on the suit again and I know there probably will be opportunities to, I love playing with Grant Gustin. I love Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch on Superman & Lois. So no, I’m not opposed to it.”"
With that in mind, we can still hold out hope of seeing Supergirl return one day. A reunion with Barry Allen on The Flash is among one of the most enticing returns for Kara, but an appearance on her cousin’s show would also seem appropriate given that it was Supergirl that introduced us to those characters in the first place.
Fans have been longing for Superman and Lois to make reference to both Supergirl and the wider Arrowverse for some time now, and even though it has yet to do that, you would think that Kara’s life-changing decision in the Supergirl series finale would at least warrant some kind of conversation between Clark and Lois since she was such a big part of their lives.
Here’s hoping that we actually see her in person at least once during the show’s run.
