Peacemaker episode 4 ending explained: Is [SPOILER] the real villain?
HBO Max’s Peacemaker has been full of surprises, but none were quite as big as the reveal in episode 4.
Peacemaker was all set to be one of TV’s most unique shows before it even began, but that was taken to a whole new level after it did.
Arriving last week with a three-episode premiere on HBO Max, the John Cena-led spin off of The Suicide Squad left viewers either scratching their heads or splitting their sides.
Set after the DCEU film, it saw Cena’s antihero, Christopher Smith, recruited by a black ops team put together by A.R.G.U.S. for “Project Butterfly”.
The fourth episode, titled “The Choad Less Traveled”, saw a lot of action go down as the team tried to function as a unit. The ending, however, was one designed to leave viewers stunned.
Is Murn a Butterfly in Peacemaker?
The conclusion of the fourth episode of Peacemaker saw Clemson Murn, the team’s reluctant leader, alone in his hotel room watching TV. And then, it showed him open his mouth, reveal his long tongue and use it like a straw to drink the same yellow fluid that Senator Goff and his family were drinking. So, yes, in that shocking moment, it was clear that Murn is a Butterfly.
Of course, that raises questions about Murn’s motivations but the vast majority of characters already had those kind of questions about him, considering him untrustworthy and potentially dangerous. The fact that he’s keeping a secret this big from his team certainly raises suspicions, but what is his goal?
Remember, he has pointed Peacemaker, Adebayo, Vigilante, Harcourt, and Economos in the direction of potentially dangerous Butterflies. But are Butterflies the enemy, or is something else going on here? We’ll have to wait and see.
Peacemaker episodes 1 – 4 are now available to watch on HBO Max, with the rest being added weekly on Wednesdays.
