25 comic book characters to watch out for in movies and TV in 2022
By Mark Lynch
6. Nick Fury
Comic book project: Secret Invasion (Disney Plus)
We haven’t seen a lot of Nick Fury in recent years. All we know is that we saw him at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. We don’t know what he’s up to. In fact, that may not have been him at all. It could be another Skrull impersonating him.
An image of an unkempt Nick Fury without his eyepatch was released late last year as a teaser for the upcoming Secret Invasion. This led to a lot of speculation and theories about what happened to him since the last time fans saw him in the MCU. The most popular theory was that he was captured. Whatever happened to him will be key to what’s going on in Secret Invasion.
5. Peacemaker
Comic book project: Peacemaker (HBO Max)
Peacemaker has no business being as fun as it is. Sure, John Cena’s Peacemaker was fun in The Suicide Squad, so the question after the movie wasn’t if the character would be fun going forward. It was whether or not this story would actually work as a series. After a few episodes, it’s proved that it not only works, but it’s going to be very successful.
Peacemaker has received positive responses from fans and critics. So far, the show is exactly what you’d expect. A lot of jokes, violence, and shenanigans. Going forward, we may see some deeper moments from Peacemaker and his handlers. Once that happens, it could be among the most best shows of the year. Though let’s be honest, it probably already is.
