25 comic book characters to watch out for in movies and TV in 2022
By Mark Lynch
4. Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel
Comic book project: Ms. Marvel (Disney Plus)
This project holds a special place in this writer’s heart for a few reasons. First, he’s a fan of Kamala Khan. Second, having a Muslim character is important. Kamala Khan could be the first to start a trend of popular Muslim characters and pave the way for more representation on the screen. Lastly, this show will display the importance of innocence and embracing what you love.
Kamala Khan is a teenager that idolizes heroes and sees the good in them as people. Sometimes, we lose sight of things that make us happy. We stop our hobbies and get embarrassed because something we like isn’t popular. This writer believes that Ms. Marvel will bring that kind of innocence back into our lives, reminding us to embrace what we love. It will be a show that you can’t help but to watch and smile at. And Kamala Khan’s passion for heroes will be at the heart of that.
3. Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk
Comic book project: She-Hulk (Disney Plus)
It’s rare that a person is cast for a role and there aren’t negative responses, but when Tatiana Maslany was finally confirmed to playing the titular role in She-Hulk, there was an incredibly positive response on social media. Refreshingly, there was nothing but praise for the new MCU actress.
Jennifer Walters could be the next big star from the MCU and fans are eager to see Maslany in action. The fact that Jameela Jamil will be playing her antagonist, Titania, adds to the anticipation. The first big trailer we see should have fans jumping out of their seats, excited for Walters’ debut later this year.
