2. The X-Men

Comic book project: ???

It’s been over a year since Disney purchased the rights to the 20th Century Fox Marvel properties. A lot of fans expected to have some news about when Marvel’s Mightiest Mutants were going to make their MCU debut by now. Unfortunately, there’s been no word of when this is happening as of yet. This writer expects that to change in the near future.

2022 could finally be the year where Marvel Studios makes a major announcement about an X-Men project. It probably won’t be a subtle hint that leads to people asking what that meant. Whenever Marvel does make an announcement about the X-Men’s debut, it will be heard by everyone.

1. Fantastic Four

Comic book project: ???

And now we come to Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four. Screen Rant recently reported that a Fantastic Four movie could be coming, “sooner rather than later.” The Fantastic Four may not garner the same kind of excitement as the X-Men, but they’re an important part of Marvel Comics and will fit in the MCU.

If we don’t get news of a Fantastic Four project, we will likely get some reference to them in an upcoming Marvel Studios project, perhaps seeing or hearing of one of their major villains. If that’s the case, the most likely option would be Galactus. The MCU is venturing into space with Eternals and you can’t have space missions without seeing the Eater of Worlds. Moreover, don’t be shocked if there’s mention of a certain Lord of Latveria. Even if we don’t see him.

Either way, with the Fantastic Four set to headline their first MCU movie in the near future, don’t be surprised if there are some subtle nods and/or references to them in current MCU projects.
