Peacemaker episode 5 ending explained: Will [SPOILER] die?
Peacemaker delivered another shock ending, but what does it all mean for the show?
Peacemaker isn’t exactly known for its subtlety, but the most recent episode was, without a doubt, the most outlandish and addictive installment yet. A strange and yet fitting sequel to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, the HBO Max and DCEU series hasn’t held back since it premiered, and the fifth episode certainly wasn’t going to start doing that either.
“Monkey Dory” saw the eclectic black ops crew assigned a task by Murn, and that was to follow Leota Adebayo’s lead to the factory. When they got there, they found out just how important that lead really is.

Taking down the whole factory – a factory that was infested with murderous Butterflies (and a Butterfly-controlled gorilla named Charlie) – the gang actually managed to bond over their near-death experience, becoming a more formidable team in the process. However, the conclusion of the episode might leave that team with one less teammate.
Will Murn kill Adebayo on Peacemaker?
In the closing moments of “Monkey Dory”, Adebayo returned to the team’s office to begin a long night of work. Still feeling guilty over placing the diary in Peacemaker’s trailer that her mother, Amanda Waller, insisted she put there, Adebayo was eager to get to work. Before she did, though, she decided to put on Peacemaker’s X-ray vision helmet.
Her amazement over how it works soon turned to dread as she looked at Mr. Murn and discovered that he is a Butterfly. In that moment, he lunged at her and chased her out of their office into the rainy night. Though she tried to aim her gun at him – something she had been getting more confident in all throughout the episode – he overpowered her as she fell to the ground.
After last week’s shocker of a cliffhanger, viewers are no doubt craving answers in regards to Murn’s motivations. If he is a Butterfly, why is he helping Waller’s crew take down the army of them? Or is he an infiltrator simply waiting to turn on the team?
While the fifth episode of the series didn’t exactly provide those answers, this cliffhanger ending makes it clear that the sixth one will. But will Adebayo be around to get those answers?
Peacemaker episodes 1 – 5 are now available to watch on HBO Max, with the rest being added weekly on Thursdays.
