Loki season 2 to commence production sooner than you might think
Loki season 2 has received an exciting update as production is set to begin soon.
After the success of Loki season 1 and the confirmation of a second season, it seems that we now know when that second season will begin production.
As revealed by Backstage (H/T: The DisInsider), production on season 2 is due to commence during the summer months of 2022.
The series will reportedly film at the famed Pinewood Studios which is well known for being the space where the Star Wars sequels were shot.
Could Loki season 2 premiere sooner rather than later?
After Loki concluded its first season, fans weren’t sure when to expect season 2 of the Disney Plus show, with 2022 and early 2023 seemingly getting ruled out as options. The fact that it’s set to begin production this summer suggests that it could still come out earlier than expected. As long as there are no delays to production due to COVID-19, Loki Season 2 could drop as early as 2023 – perhaps even early 2023.
While it is too early to get a synopsis, the sophomore season of Loki will likely see our favorite trickster god deal with the aftermath of Sylvie’s escape and the twisting of the reality where Kang the Conqueror has taken over everything.
Loki season 2 will see the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki and, while the rest of the cast has not been confirmed, fans are hoping he will be joined by Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Jonathan Majors as Nathaniel Richards/Kang the Conqueror (fresh off Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer.
A search for a new series director is also underway as Kate Herron, the director for Season 1 will not be returning, as per Looper.
Hiddleston, Di Martino, and Wilson are rumored to appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This has yet to be officially confirmed and it’s unclear as to how much of a role they would have in the film at this stage. If true, though, it would be the first time Sylvie and Mobius have appeared in an MCU film. It would also be the first MCU movie that Hiddleston has appeared in that does not feature on-screen brother, Chris Hemsworth.
While rumors about the characters’ futures will continue to do the rounds, it’s good to know that Loki season 2 is starting to appear on the horizon.
