The Walking Dead best duos: Rick and Shane

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane (Jon Bernthal) were best friends and an inseparable duo pre-apocalypse, there’s no doubting that. Both being cops in the same town, they knew each other well and had each other’s backs come hell or high water.

Well, it turns out that the zombie apocalypse put a few too many hurdles in the way for their partnership to truly endure and flourish. The problems occur when Rick learns that Shane had been sleeping with his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies). Then, when Lori ends up pregnant, there’s some debate over who exactly the father is. Since that moment, tensions began to run high between the duo.

Ultimately, things end in a bad way between them: former friends become enemies. Rick ends up killing Shane and then taking him out again after he turns into a walker.

The chemistry between Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal was terrific, which is perhaps why fans remember this duo so well. They even brought Shane back for a cameo in Rick’s final episode “What Comes After.”
