The greatest duos in The Walking Dead don’t have to be restricted to human partnerships, and this entry certainly proves that. For fans who weren’t readers of the graphic novels, being introduced to a guy who declared himself King was weird enough. But when he strutted around the Kingdom with a literal tiger for a companion, well, that was just plain bizarre.
Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Shiva’s introduction in season 7 was also the first time we entered the Kingdom, an advanced community. We weren’t sure what to make of Ezekiel for a while. Was he friend or foe? Over time, he’s become was of the most beloved characters on the show.
The King saved her after finding the tiger badly injured in her zoo enclosure. Since then, the two proven to be inseparable. Shiva protects Ezekiel defiantly. And Ezekiel cares for the big cat just like any other pet. Sadly, the show killed off Shiva way too soon in “Some Guy.” But her death was not in vain, she sacrificed herself to save Ezekiel.
The outrage caused on social media after Shiva’s death goes to show just how loved they were as a duo.
