Is She-Hulk making her debut at the Super Bowl with a trailer?

One of Marvel Studios’ most anticipated projects is She-Hulk. The series — which is expected to arrive on Disney Plus at some point this year — will take audiences into the world of Jennifer Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk (played by Tatiana Maslany), star attorney, Bruce Banner’s cousin, and superhero extraordinaire.

Marvel released snippets of footage from the show during last year’s Disney Plus Day, but could we get a better look at it soon?

The Super Bowl is here, and with it comes a multitude of exciting commercials for upcoming blockbusters and television series. Marvel Studios is expected to have a presence during the sporting event, and as such, it makes sense to wonder:

Will She-Hulk‘s first trailer release during the Super Bowl?

Unfortunately, nothing has been confirmed either way at the moment. The hope around the fan community is that a trailer will indeed play during the Super Bowl given the event’s audience size and the fact that the show is on the 2022 horizon.

There are, however, some factors to consider to make an educated guess about the likelihood of a She-Hulk trailer being dropped this weekend. Firstly, there’s the spacing between MCU-show releases. So far, Marvel Studios has opted to release trailers for its shows relatively close to their premieres. Here is a release-date list of every MCU-Disney Plus show and their respective trailers:

  • WandaVision: January 15, 2021 – Trailer release: September 20, 2020.
  • The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: March 19, 2021 – Trailer release: February 7, 2021.
  • Loki: June 9, 2021 – Trailer release: April 5, 2021.
  • What If…?: August 11, 2021 – Trailer release: July 8, 2021.
  • Hawkeye: November 24, 2021 – Trailer release: September 13, 2021.
  • Moon Knight: March 30, 2022 – Trailer release: January 17, 2022.

You’ll notice that trailers tend to come out one to two months before the series’ premieres. WandaVision is the exception, as its trailer was released three and a half months before its January 15 start date. Aside from that, though, Marvel Studios seems to favor releasing first trailers for Disney Plus projects relatively close to them premiering.

We also have to keep in mind the spacing between Disney Plus shows. Generally speaking, the streamer does not release tentpole series at the same time. As seen on the list above, MCU shows are typically spaced out around two to three months from one another (except for Moon Knight, which will come out four months after Hawkeye), and there have been Star Wars shows between those gaps — The Bad Batch (premiered May 4, 2021, between The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki) and The Book of Boba Fett (premiered on December 29, 2021, between Hawkeye and Moon Knight).

Obi-Wan Kenobi is scheduled to come out on May 25, 2022, which means it will be the tentpole follow-up to Moon Knight, meaning in turn that we probably shouldn’t expect She-Hulk until around July or August at the earliest (unless Ms. Marvel premieres instead). That is five to six months away. Assuming that’s an accurate estimate, Marvel Studios could have opted to skip a Super Bowl-centric promotion for Jennifer Walters’ solo series in favor of waiting until closer to its release date.

Of course, keep in mind this is speculation. As mentioned, the Super Bowl is one of the biggest events in the world, so studios are aware of the importance of advertising during it. With She-Hulk being such a highly anticipated project, we wouldn’t be surprised to see its titular character actually have a presence at the football event. However, as things stand right now, it doesn’t appear like that will be the case.
