These moments are the most important in The CW’s Naomi’s season so far.

The CW’s Naomi started off rather slow, but it has continued to pick up as each new episode premiered. A mark of a good show, part of that successful slow burn has to do with content.

Each episode of Naomi adds more clues to Naomi MacDuffie’s history, powers, and the Earth that she came from. As this article is being written, the show is only four episodes in. Nevertheless, there have been key parts that fans should make note of.

Superman “stunt”

Episode: “Don’t Believe Everything You Think”

This is easily the biggest part of the series so far. Without it, this would be just another show about a talented high school student. When Naomi discovered her abilities, however, her entire life (and the show we were watching) changed. What’s funny is that it all started with what everyone in her town thought was a stunt.

In this universe, Superman is a myth. To Naomi, he’s a real life hero. The Superman “stunt” is what leads Naomi down a path that gives her the chance to find out about having abilities. If Superman never fought in her hometown, she may never have known what she could do.

Zumbado revealing himself

Episode: “Don’t Believe Everything You Think”

When we first see Zumbado, he looks evil. That certainly wasn’t helped by the fact that all of Naomi’s friends talk about him as if he’s a bad guy.

We find out that he’s not from this world when he confronts Naomi in a rather threatening manner. This is also the first time we see her use her powers with control.

Ever since that moment, we have gotten different vibes from Zumbado. Sometimes he seems like he’s on Naomi’s side. He has helped her on occasion and has even given her the disc: A key to finding out about herself and her powers. Other times, however, he seems like a jerk – something that will be mentioned later.

Greg McDuffie getting a promotion

Episode: “Unidentified Flying Object”

Naomi’s father works for the U.S. Military and he’s not just a soldier. He’s someone who is trusted by his higher ups a great deal. So much, in fact, that when the military discover that Superman’s arrival is not part of a stunt, he gets a promotion, becoming part of the team that actively looks for extra-terrestrial beings.

Obviously, this is a concern. Greg’s daughter isn’t from this Earth, has powers, and will likely be on his team’s radar at some point. And, if this writer’s theory is correct, Greg McDuffie himself could be looked at too.

Meeting Dee

Episode: “Don’t Believe Everything You Think”

Meeting Dee was just as important for Naomi as getting her powers. The truth is that he is going to be the reason that she eventually learns how to control her powers. He’s also been helping her as a person, as she has learned a lot about emotions, being in-tuned to herself, and how her feelings are justified.

Dee’s been the big brother that Naomi’s never had. His crowning moment came in the fourth episode of the season when he saved her life from a bounty hunter. Without him, she would have been taken back to her former Earth.

Expect more of this from Dee and perhaps even a moment where Naomi says or does something that will damage their relationship for a couple of episodes. She is still learning all of this, after all.

Akira

Episode: “Zero to Sixty”

Akira’s first appearance was pulled off to perfection. The first person we meet that truly knows Zumbado, she says she’ll never trust him again. When she eventually meets Naomi, she reveals that Zumbado ruined their home Earth. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen.

If Naomi like the comic books it’s based on, it’s absolutely accurate. However, as we’ve seen with movies and TV shows that adapt comic books, the source material isn’t always adapted 100% accurately. Either way, this writer can’t wait to see what Akira can really do.

Naomi and her parents have the talk

Episode: “Enigma”

If this writer is being honest, the story the McDuffies told their daughter was lackluster. The previous episode ended with the parents saying they knew about Naomi not being from their planet. It looked like we’d learn more. Instead, what we got was underwhelming. After some thought, though, the short story made sense.

Revealing too much of Naomi’s origins too soon wouldn’t leave much for the rest of the season or series to explore. That little bit we got was enough to fulfill some of the viewers’ curiosities and keep them hanging on for more.

After the tension between Dee and Greg McDuffie during dinner, there’s definitely something going on between the two of them when it comes to Naomi’s origin. Something that may reveal a rivalry between Dee’s people and Greg McDuffie’s, perhaps?

Naomi’s first real fight

Episode: “Enigma”

Naomi had her first fight with someone who was trying to harm her. Sure, Zumbado threatened her in the past, but he didn’t try to harm her. The bounty hunter after her, on the other hand, definitely was.

When Naomi tries to use her powers to defend herself, she can’t get them to work. This is the first time this happened. She now realizes that her powers aren’t always going to save her, she needs more practice, and that her situation is more dire than she realizes.

Next. Thor just became Marvel’s strongest character. dark
