Was Jim Carrey offered the role of Rocket Raccoon?

Continuing with our Guardians of the Galaxy castings, it turns out that Jim Carrey was considered for the role of Rocket Raccoon. He is not new to being in comic book movies as he has been in The Mask and Kick-Ass 2, but as of now, he hasn’t been in a Marvel movie.

In 2013, there were rumors that he as well as Adam Sandler were being considered for the role. This makes sense as he is known for comedic roles and Rocket Raccoon is mainly a comedic character. However, we did see in Infinity War that he has some emotional depth to him in his scenes with Thor and being concerned about Thor’s well-being.

The role went to Bradley Cooper, and he has done a great job of voice-acting the character and bringing wit and humor to the role. Of course, there are probably humorous roles in the future that Jim Carrey could be considered for.

These alternate Guardians of the Galaxy castings are interesting to think about. The entire cast could have looked entirely different which would probably have made the film very different (save for Groot and Rocket). We have no way of knowing if the film would have been more or less successful with different actors in these roles.
