Was Liam Hemsworth offered the role of Thor?

This is kind of a surprising one as Chris Hemsworth, Liam’s brother, is the Thor that we know and love. While both Hemsworth brothers are gorgeous and talented actors, we are pretty partial to what Chris has brought to the role. Although, it does make sense that sometimes they are each other’s competition.

It turns out that Liam was on the shortlist to be in the film when director Kenneth Branagh was looking to cast the role. After a second audition, and a reported push from Joss Whedon, Chris ended up taking the role.

We think that things turned out for the best as Liam was able to appear in The Hunger Games. And we love the humor, warmth, and strength that Chris Hemsworth has brought to the role. Chris, as the older brother, was probably able to bring a little bit more maturity and depth to Thor, and, no offense to Liam, but we just can’t imagine anyone else being the God of Thunder at this point. We know that many people have opinions on who their favorite Hemsworth brother is. So, do you with that Liam had been given the role instead?
