J.K. Simmons could return to a Marvel Studios project as everyone’s favorite news loudmouth, J. Jonah Jameson.

There are certain performers that epitomize what comic book fans have seen in the pages. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki are perfect examples. Although, those are the more famous ones. Another actor that fans always loved was J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

When Simmons returned as Jameson at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the audiences in theaters were pumped. Thankfully, this wasn’t the last time he appeared. Jameson was back in Spider-Man: No Way Home and in a bigger role as well. He proved yet again that he is the J. Jonah Jameson fans deserve.

Thankfully, he may be back. According to Simmons, he could reprise his role in a Marvel project in the future.

During an appearance on Deadline’s The Actor’s Side (via The Direct), J.K. Simmons was asked about coming back as J. Jonah Jameson. He cryptically responded, “Hey, I think I’m gonna be in more, so… Fingers crossed.”

While that may not give fans much, there’s nope. There will always be a place for J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU and Sony’s Marvel Universe.

Future Marvel projects for J.K. Simmons

In Marvel Comics currently, Jonah knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. They’ve since become friends. Jonah’s even helped save Spider-Man’s life a time or two. His position on heroes and villains in the masked superhero community may be better in the comics now, but not in the MCU. It will probably be bad in the Sony universe as well. That leaves him with multiple places he could appear in.

The good thing about J. Jonah Jameson’s character is that he hates everyone in a mask. Spider-Man is at the top of the list, but he detests everyone in a mask. Seeing Jameson in the next series of MCU Spider-Man movies is almost certain. Other than Spider-Man in the MCU, Jameson could appear in a Defenders project. He would certainly hate Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil. With Sony, we could also see him in the next Venom, the Kraven the Hunter project, or Madam Web.

For all we know, J.K. Simmons has already filmed a project or two for this year. Saying he was in a future project could be why he was so mysterious with his answer on returning. Especially with Morbius or Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) debuting later this year. Barring pushbacks of course (looking at you, Morbius).
