Who plays the Joker in The Batman 2022? (Joker actor 2022)
By Cody Schultz
The Joker does not appear in a key role within The Batman; however, the character is teased in one of the film’s most talked-about moments.
When it comes to iconic Batman villains, there is none more iconic and well-known than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker.
For more than 80 years, the Joker and Batman have faced off in the pages of the comics, in video games, television series and on the big screen. Given the rich history of the two characters, it’s understandable why the Joker is often a go-to character for directors when selecting a villain to face off against the Dark Knight.
Perhaps that’s why it’s been so refreshing to see Matt Reeves take a more unique approach with The Batman by utilizing other equally iconic villains such as the Penguin, the Riddler and Carmine Falcon.
While Reeves avoids using the Joker as a leading character in his film, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t managed to sneak the character into the mix.

Who is The Joker in The Batman 2022?
Technically, no actor is credited for playing the Joker within The Batman. If you watch the full credits — which we did, trust us — you’ll find that the Joker is nowhere to be seen within the extended cast list.
There is however one character who appears in the film that many believe is the Joker and he happens to be played by Eternals breakout Barry Keoghan.
Who does Barry Keoghan play in The Batman? (Is Barry Keoghan the Joker?)
The general assumption is that Barry Keoghan will have a larger role in a potential sequel to The Batman in playing the Joker, despite being credited as playing unseen Arkham prisoner within the film.
While Keoghan was not credited as the Joker within the film, there have been rumors swirling that the rising star will have a larger role in a follow-up film in which he’ll officially step into the role of the Joker.
During his brief appearance, Keoghan’s character had many characteristics associated with the Joker including the character’s signature maniacal laugh. Fans are eager to see the actor tackle the role and the brief scene definitely seemed to be paving the way for Keoghan’s Joker to face off against Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
