After several delays, the wait for Morbius continues in March as the Jared Leto-led film will not be hitting theaters this month.

Recent years have been quite interesting for moviegoers. Going back to early 2020 when the pandemic first began, studios began shifting release dates of previously planned movies or moving them to streaming platforms.

Among the many movies delayed due to the pandemic has been Sony’s Morbius, starring Jared Leto. Originally slated to arrive in Summer 2020, the film has since been delayed several times and looked primed to drop in January as one of Sony’s first releases of the new calendar year.

Just when it looked as though the film was going to finally arrive, Sony decided to push its release back even further. The delays have made it difficult to keep up with when the film will finally arrive, but we can confirm Morbius will not be coming in March.

That’s the bad news. The good news? Barring any further unexpected delays, Sony’s next superhero film should finally be coming to a theater near you very soon.

Morbius release date (2022)

Originally slated to release on Jan. 28, 2022, Morbius has since been pushed back to Friday, April 1, 2022. Given the number of times Sony has delayed the film already, we don’t anticipate the film being delayed any further.

Sony has been heavily promoting the April 1 release date for the Jared Leto-led film and recently dropped the final trailer for the film, seeming to indicate this release date should stick.

How many times has Morbius been delayed?

It’s been an interesting road to the big screen for Morbius which has been delayed a whopping six times by Sony.

The film was originally slated to open in theaters on July 10, 2020, but was first delayed that year as the pandemic began with Sony shifting the film back a few weeks to July 31, 2020.

As the pandemic waged on and theaters across the globe remained closed, Sony delayed the film to March 19, 2021. The third delay then saw the film shifting to Oct. 8, 2021, before getting shifted to Jan. 21, 2022.

Jan. 21 turned into Jan. 28, before Sony finally landed on April 1, 2022.
