The Batman credits were followed by a tribute to Andrew Jack, but what exactly is his connection to The Batman? Here is what we know.

The Batman has arrived and if you’ve made it to this particular post, chances are you’ve finished the movie and your interest was piqued by the tribute which capped off the movie’s extended credits.

As the credits for the Matt Reeves film drew to a close, the creative team took a moment to celebrate one Andrew Jack with a message that read, “In Memoriam Andrew Jack.” The moment was designed to celebrate the life of Jack, who helped bring the film to life behind the scenes which is perhaps why you might not recognize his name right away.

So who exactly is he and what is his connection to The Batman?

Who is Andrew Jack?

Andrew Jack is a renowned dialect coach who worked in the entertainment industry for several decades on some of the biggest movies to hit the screen.

Jack’s many credits include work on a handful of Marvel films including Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain American: The First Avenger. He also teamed up with Lucasfilm on several occasions as the dialect coach for films including Solo: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.

On a few occasions, Jack even stepped in front of the camera with 14 credits to his name as an actor including the role of Major Ematt in The Force Awakens.

Why is The Batman dedicated to Andrew Jack?

The Batman credits conclude by dedicating the film to Andrew Jack, who was the dialect coach on the film. Sadly, Jack passed away in March 2020 from COVID-19 and the In Memoriam was a way to honor his legacy and work on the film.

The film marked Jack’s final work and the dedication was designed to honor the work he put into the film before his death and his lasting legacy within the industry.

The Batman is in theaters now.
