Moon Knight is coming to Disney Plus this month but how much Marvel movie knowledge do you need before that? Are there any MCU movies you need to watch?

If we learned anything from the world of entertainment in 2021, it’s that Marvel Studios is set to continue its world domination on the small screen. Through the Disney Plus streaming service, Marvel have expanded their shared universe through various new shows that utilized storytelling methods that could not be used in their film ventures.

That said, WandaVisionLoki and their fellow MCU companions were still part of the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, each playing an important part of its fourth phase. And that world’s ongoing story will continue through 2022 in a bunch of new shows, starting with Moon Knight.

Oscar Isaac will star as Marc Spector in the six-episode series, and he will be joined by Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. The show premieres on March 30, but before it does, do you need to brush up on your MCU knowledge?

What Marvel movies should be watched before Moon Knight?

While the release of a new property in the MCU is always a good excuse to get caught up on (or rewatch) your favorite Marvel movies in preparation, Moon Knight is a rare example of a series that you don’t actually need to do any MCU homework on.

Unlike previous live-action Disney Plus shows WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierLoki, and HawkeyeMoon Knight introduces us to a brand new character in Marc Spector. This is Oscar Isaac’s debut in the role and, as far as we know, there aren’t set to be any other established MCU characters in the program either.

With that in mind, the best place to get some insight on Spector, the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and all aspects of the Moon Knight character would be in the source material itself, the Marvel Comics.
