Loki season 2 had MCU fans very excited for the show’s return, but recent online rumors left some a little concerned.

Loki was undoubtedly one of 2021’s most enjoyable TV shows. The Marvel Studios series was part of a wave of Disney Plus shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it launched during the summer, becoming the streaming service’s most-watched premiere and reinvigorating its already-successful release schedule.

Tom Hiddleston also returned to fill our lives with that mischief we’ve come to recognize from Loki but the trickster from Asgard was in for an adventure so very different from anything he has given us thus far, venturing into one the MCU’s lesser-discussed territories: Time travel.

Needless to say the show was a popular addition to both the MCU and TV landscapes, and with its format setting it apart from the other shows, a second season seemed inevitable.

However, recent online rumors have resulted in some concern over the show’s fate, with Twitter going into meltdown over the possibility of Loki being cancelled. Is there any truth to those rumors?

Is Loki cancelled?

No, Loki has definitely not been cancelled. The Marvel Studios series has already been renewed for a second season – which was announced the morning that the season 1 finale premiered (via the finale’s mid-credits scene).

Rumors of the show’s demise are premature and completely untrue as Tom Hiddleston will indeed be back for the second season. As for when it will be back, that’s not quite as clear.

Loki season 2 release date

There is no definitive release date for Loki season 2. The show is expected to film in summer 2022, so we shouldn’t expect new episodes until much later in that year at the earliest. The more likely option, though, is probably an early-mid 2023 release.

Until we hear anything official from Marvel Studios, however, it’s hard to know when exactly the God of Mischief will return. But know that he will return.
