Riverdale season 6 returned to The CW with its bonkers midseason premiere but what does it all mean for each of the characters?

Riverdale season 6 is back on screens. The long-running CW series made its long-awaited comeback this week to air a new episode, but it’s not the first time that the sixth season has shocked viewers.

The previous five episodes of the season saw the show execute its “Rivervale” event, in which strange and bizarre events happened in a parallel dimension known as Rivervale and Jughead and Betty had to stop the two universes from collapsing into each other.

Now Riverdale is back and we’re back to the canon stories from before, but with a twist. Yes, “Chapter One Hundred And One: Unbelievable” may have just been the show’s most unbelievable episode yet. But what does it all mean going forward?

Do Betty, Archie and Jughead have super powers on Riverdale season 6?

After six seasons, it appears that Riverdale has finally opened its world up to the supernatural. It accomplished that through the “Rivervale” event, which paved the way for such an occurrence when the main world’s more supernatural doppelganger almost collapsed into it. But the beginnings of the supernatural actually started before that, as the season 5 finale teased what was to come.

Cheryl Blossom called upon Abigail Blossom’s spirit to put a curse on the town of Riverdale but she didn’t realize that curse would come back to bite her and her friends. Or has it?

While Cheryl believes that the curse was responsible for the bomb that Hiram left behind, it actually may have been the gift that saved Betty and Archie, as the latter’s body was able to shield Betty from the blast. Yes, it appears that the two do indeed have super powers, with Archie now being invincible and Betty being able to sense danger.

On the other hand, Jughead – who was outside in the garage at the time – suffered hearing loss and Cheryl herself fell victim to the curse she spoke into existence, with Abigail now inhabiting her own body.

Long story short: Riverdale season 6 has taken the show into supernatural territory, two of its primary characters have super powers, one of them is a witch and there’s the spirit of her deceased ancestor living within her. Yes, Riverdale has changed forever.
