Superman and Lois renewed for season 3 at The CW

The Man of Steel and Lois Lane are returning for a third season of Superman and Lois. 

Superman and Lois took the comic-book community by storm when it arrived in 2021. The show’s eye-catching cinematography, superb special effects and standout cast made for one of the most beloved live-action interpretations of Clark Kent and his corner of the DC Universe.

Season 2 is currently airing, but luckily for fans, there are more stories in store for our intrepid duo of reporters. The CW has revealed that Superman and Lois is coming back for a third season.

Superman and Lois season 3 is happening

Superman and Lois was renewed alongside a slew of other CW offerings, including The Flash, Riverdale, Kung Fu, All American, Nancy Drew and Walker.

CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz had this to say about the renewals:

"“As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier, will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond. These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially engaged programming, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint.”"

Elizabeth Tulloch, who plays Lois Lane on the Arrowverse show, took to Twitter to celebrate Superman and Lois‘ return:

As noted by TV Line, the renewal comes a little later than usual for the network, which typically announces its returning series in February (or even January). As Deadline noted, the delay occurred in the midst of The CW’s pending sale, which was announced in early 2022.

TV Line further stated the network’s new owners are expected to make new decisions regarding its content slate, thus casting doubt on the future of some of its shows (e.g., some could be canceled while others could find news homes at HBO Max or Paramount+).
