Arrowverse: 6 female superheroes who deserve their own spin-off
Laurel Lance / Black Canary
This one still stings because Laurel Lance almost starred in her very own spin-off series a few years back. Over the course of Arrow‘s run, Earth-2 Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) underwent one of the Arrowverse’s best redemption arcs, leaving her days as Black Siren behind so that she could follow in the footsteps of her Earth-1 doppelganger Black Canary. Green Arrow and the Canaries was set to continue that story.
While that show didn’t go forward, it doesn’t mean we have seen the last of Laurel. She remains one of the most interesting characters in the Arrowverse, and is definitely the most comic-accurate version of Black Canary we had seen on Arrow. Seeing Cassidy’s electric performance return in a show of her own would be nothing short of amazing.
Nia Nal / Dreamer
Introduced in Supergirl‘s fourth season, Nia Nal might just be the most revolutionary superhero in the Arrowverse. The first ever transgender superhero in TV history, Dreamer made waves both on the show and in the real world as her introduction was a major step forward for transgender representation on television.
The character was often overlooked in Supergirl‘s later seasons, meaning that there is so much untapped potential in regards to Dreamer’s story, and that makes her one of the best candidates for a spin-off series of her own. Let one of the Arrowverse’s most important superheroes live on and add to her own legacy by embarking on some of her own adventures.
Nora West-Allen / XS (along with Bart Allen / Impulse)
Nora West-Allen was officially introduced in The Flash‘s fifth season and it didn’t take long for fans to fall in love with Jessica Parker Kennedy’s endearing performance. The daughter of Barry and Iris West-Allen, she’s a hero from Central City’s future and has had various run-ins with the villains from the Scarlet Speedster’s future.
While Kennedy is more than capable of carrying her own show, a recent development on The Flash made it seem like the show could potentially be laying the groundwork for a series that features Nora and her impulsive brother Bart Allen (Jordan Fisher). And after seeing how incredible the pair are together, this might just be the lively future-set spin-off needed to revive the Arrowverse’s own future.
