Gotham Knights: Supernatural actor Misha Collins joins the cast as Harvey Dent
Misha Collins, formerly of The CW’s Supernatural, has been cast in upcoming Gotham Knights series in the role of Harvey Dent. Is Two-Face coming to town?
Gotham Knights has found one of its major Batman characters in a CW veteran as Supernatural‘s Misha Collins has been cast in the role of Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face in the upcoming DC series.
TVLine reported the news after the actor made the announcement on Twitter. Taking to social media, Collins shared a photo of Aaron Eckhart, who portrayed the Batman character in 2008’s The Dark Knight, jokingly asking if his version of the character could wear “a beige trench coat over the grey suit” – a reference to his Supernatural character Castiel.
First appearing in Supernatural‘s fourth season, Collins portrayed the character for an impressive 12 of the show’s 15 seasons. Castiel is an angel of the Lord who fought alongside the Winchesters against various threats such as demons, monsters, and other rogues that threatened mankind.
Is Two-Face coming to Gotham Knights?
While Collins will initially portray Harvey Dent in the pilot episode, it seems that his transformation into Two-Face will be dramatized on the show if it gets picked up. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Dent is described as being “dashing, with a swagger” but that his relentless pursuit of justice will “tragically and ironically transform him into Two-Face”.
Collins joins a line of live-action depictions of Harvey Dent/Two-Face, with the character previously being played by Billy Dee Williams in Batman (1989), Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever, Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight and Nicholas D’Agosto on the FOX television series Gotham.
Gotham Knights centers on the adoptive son of Bruce Wayne/Batman who emerges in the wake of his surrogate father’s murder to form an uneasy alliance with the children of The Dark Knight’s enemies. The show received a pilot order last month and has since begun casting its roles.
Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux are writing the series. Fiveash, Stoteraux, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden serve as executive producers on Gotham Knights. Abrams is a co-executive producer.
Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. TV is producing the series for The CW.
