Morbius age rating: Is the Jared Leto Marvel movie suitable for kids?
Morbius is in theaters now, but is it suitable for family viewing?
The day it once seemed like it might never come for Marvel fans has actually arrived: Morbius has hit theaters.
The Jared Leto-led vampire flick had been delayed seven times, with Sony having to shift it around multiple times throughout the pandemic before then delaying it one more time to allow its other films, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and the record-setting Marvel Cinematic Universe installment Spider-Man: No Way Home, lengthier runs at the box office. It also wisely gave The Batman enough time to dominate the box office in March before it hit theaters.
But hit theaters it has, as Sony’s expansion of its Sony Universe of Marvel Characters continues, with Morbius hoping to follow in the footsteps of both Venom movies in achieving unexpected success at the box office. And now that it’s here, you can bet that fans will be intrigued to see if it was worth the wait.
But as this isn’t an MCU movie, there has been some discussion about whether or not it’s suitable for family viewing.
Morbius age rating
Morbius has been given a rating of PG-13 by the MPAA for intense sequences of violence, frightening images, and some occasionally strong language.
While that rating is the one given to most superhero movies today, it’s important to remember that it comes with the potential of a “higher level of intensity” and that some of the content may be inappropriate for a children under 13 years old. And given that Morbius is a much darker movie than the typical MCU one, expect some scary vampire imagery and more mature content.
With that in mind, it’s best to be cautious about taking any younger family members to see the film.
Morbius hits theaters on Friday, April 1, 2022.
