Episode 2 of Moon Knight kept the momentum from episode 1 going! Here are the things that we learned from the second episode.

Episode 2 of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight on Disney Plus was even better than the season premiere. There were less jokes, more action, and even more Khonshu (who’s this writer’s favorite character). We were also introduced to Layla in a big way, learned more about Arthur Harrow, and found out that the jackals Moon Knight fights are things only he and Arthur can see.

Those aren’t the only noteworthy things to mention. Here are the five biggest takeaways from episode 2 of Moon Knight.

Is Steven Grant crazy?

For years, no one knew if Marc Spector’s god Khonshu was real or not in the comics. It wasn’t until Avengers: The Age of Khonshu that we knew for sure that the god was real. The series pays tribute to that as we, the viewers, know he’s real. However, that could be found to be wrong. There’s no telling in the Marvel Universe. For all we know, the Mystical powers are real and the god is not.

Khonshu’s avatar the Moon Knight

When Marc Spector is talking to Steven, he tells him who he is. He explains that he is the avatar of Khonshu and that he protects the vulnerable and delivers Khonshu’s justice to those who deserve it. Again, this is very much like the comic book. However, just like the comics things may not be what they appear.

Khonshu is the Egyptian God of the Moon and Vengeance in Marvel Comics. He’s also a very petty and wrathful god. There have been times in the comics when Khonshu would make demands that Marc, Steven, or Jake Lockely wouldn’t do because they were heinous. This could happen again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Layla is Marc’s wife

When Layla said that she was Marc’s wife, this writer blurted out a laugh that woke the dead. It wasn’t the fact that he was married. The hilarity came from Steven’s reaction to this. He can barely talk to women without cowering inside of himself. To top it off, Layla is someone who we’ll undoubtedly see become one of the toughest women in all of the MCU.

The other thing to pay attention to is Layla asking if Steven was another fake identity that Marc created. In less than five minutes, the creative team explained the multiple personalities. Marc made them. This was brilliantly done. We see that there’s an entire life that she knows about that Steven doesn’t.

Arthur Harrow was a former Fist of Vengeance

This writer never would have thought that Arthur Harrow would be a former avatar of Khonshu. Although, it makes sense. As Arthur said, Khonshu’s retribution comes after the deed is done, while Ammit’s punishment comes before the act. If Arthur really wants the world to be a better place, it would make sense that he’d follow Ammit, even if she’s lying.

This is very much like Minority Report or Marvel Comics’ Civil War 2. Both punish people before the crime was committed. And, as we’ve seen in both stories, the future isn’t a guarantee. This writer also believes that Ammit is actually evil while Arthur is just misguided, even if the last thing he does is kill an innocent person.

Steven created the Mr. Knight Suit

Arthur Harrow summons another jackal to chase whoever has the Scarab. While Steven has it, both Marc and Layla tell Steven to put on the suit. Steven calls for a suit as he’s falling out of a window. However, the suit he ends up with isn’t the one Layla and Marc were talking about. It’s the white Mr. Knight Suit (that Marc calls Psycho Colonel Sanders). Hopefully this isn’t the only time we see that outfit in this series.
