Moon Knight returns with a memorable second episode.

The second episode of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight aired on Disney Plus, and we are slowly putting together the puzzle that is Steven Grant and Marc Spector’s double life.

But hey, who said being a hero had a good work life balance?

A battle inside Steven Grant’s mind and his double life

We pick up the day after Moon Knight’s debut at the end of the series premiere. The show is slowly, but surely unravelling the secrets of the multiple identities behind Steven Grant, and his mirror doppelgänger with the American accent — Marc Spector.  Steven Grant, nevertheless confused is desperate for answers. We finally learn that Marc Spector serves Konshu, and is his Avatar.  Marc Spector “appears” anytime there is a mirror or a material that can source a reflection (i.e. puddles, metal etc.).

But does Steven Grant buy this? Absolutely not. He’s still piecing the puzzles of parts of his mind together, trying to make sense of living this double life of being both a vessel and what he thinks is his regular life. Uncovering parts of his Marc Spector life,  we are introduced to what we find to be his wife.

This double life comes to haunt him as he’s captured by what appears to be government agents.

Arthur Harrow and Ammit’s plans for the future of Moon Knight

After Steven Grant was captured, he’s taken to some community run by Harrow. Throughout the evening, we keep hearing echoes of Konshu’s voice (only to be heard by Steven Grant). When Steven asks if anyone else can hear the voices, Harrow confirms that only Konshu’s avatar can hear his voice — and that he himself was the former avatar of the Egyptian god. We finally learn the true nature of what Harrow’s plan is: To resurrect Amit, an Egyptian goddess to “eliminate” people before they do anything bad.

In the last minute before all chaos broke loose, Layla steps in with the scarab and begging her husband to “summon the suit”. Clearly Layla knows something we don’t (and Steven doesn’t). These Egyptian ancient creatures begin to emerge and start including themselves in the battle. It is beginning to occur to us that this Steven Grant and Marc Spector are two different entities. Marc, trapped in the reflection is begging Steven to let him take over so he can use the Moon Knight suit. Standing his ground, Steven declines—arguing that every time Moon Knight takes over, people get hurt. So, he takes matters into is own hands and, well, he ends up looking like a politician: Meet Mr. Knight.

Just me, myself, and the Egyptian God Khonshu

After Moon Knight finishes the battle and wins, Steven Grant and Marc Spector have a conversation through the mirror—and Spector explains the terms and conditions of why they are trapped together yet divided by a metaphorical wall that the stronger body controls.

After cutting their conversation short, our first conversation between Marc Spector and Khonshu, speaking vaguely on the terms of their agreement for Spector’s repayment. Wanting to hear none of his concerns, Khonshu takes Spector to Egypt to stop Harrow from resurrecting Ammit now that he has the scarab. But will they succeed? And just how powerful will Harrow be once Ammit is resurrected?
