Superman and Lois

Year: 2021 – present

Seasons: 2 (season 3 is happening)

Almost a decade into the Arrowverse’s run, the Greg Berlanti-produced shared universe decided to take its biggest pivot yet in Superman and Lois. Featuring the versions of the title characters that we met in Supergirl, the series told the story of Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) after the story we were all familiar with.

Instead of another origin story, The CW series takes a very “after the happy ending” approach to Lois and Clark’s story, showcasing how they cope with saving the world and raising two teenage boys at the same time. It also highlights their struggles and celebrates their triumphs through a familial lens, making it one of the most heartwarming and authentic dramas the genre has ever seen.

Supergirl

Year: 2015 – 2021

Seasons: 6

Back when the Arrowverse had only just begun expanding, Supergirl debuted on CBS (to the biggest numbers any DCTV content had ever seen). Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel flew through the skies of an earth that was parallel to her Arrow and Flash counterparts but that didn’t stop all the shows from crossing over from time to time.

An unsung hero and trendsetter that deserves much more credit than it getsSupergirl was the first fully-fledged female-led superhero series in almost 40 years, paving the way for multiple films and movies headlined by women superheroes to follow. In its six-year run, the show, and Melissa Benoist’s hopeful hero, truly changed the game for the better.
