Moon Knight episode 3 spoilers: Does Steven die in Moon Knight?

Moon Knight episode 3 ended with quite a major cliffhanger involving Steven, but should we truly be concerned about Steven’s fate?

We’ve officially reached the halfway point of Moon Knight season 1 and the third episode of the series managed to up the stakes in exciting new ways! As teased at the end of episode 2, we’ve officially made the jump to Egypt where Marc, Steven and Layla must come together to stop Harrow from resurrecting Ammit.

Warning: Moon Knight episode 3 spoilers ahead!

As the episode begins, Marc is actively searching for answers in hopes of locating Harrow and helping Khonshu stop him from resurrecting Ammit. Hoping to get some help from the rest of the existing gods, Khonshu causes a lunar eclipse in the middle of the day to summon his fellow gods.

Transported into the Pyramid of Giza, Khonsu uses Marc to plead his case to the gods in asking them to take action against Harrow. Unfortunately, Harrow is able to trick the gods by accusing Khonshu of taking advantage of Marc and Steven.

While the gods choose not to help Khonshu, Yatzil, the avatar for the goddess Hathor, is able to point Marc in the right direction.

Does Steven die in Moon Knight episode 3?

With Yatzil’s help, Marc and Layla are able to track down a map which Steven then helps to decipher. As it turns out, the map is of the night sky from centuries ago when the tomb housing Ammit was created.

In order to read the map, Khonshu uses his abilities and turns back the night sky to the night the map would have been created with help from Steven. While Khonshu and Steven are successful in turning back the night sky, the move leads to Khonshu’s imprisonment by the other gods. Before being ripped away, Khonshu tells Steven to tell Marc to find a way to set him free before disappearing.

As Khonshu disintegrated, our last shot of Steven is him collapsing into the sand as a concerned Layla kneels down beside him with a concerned look on her face.

Although things weren’t looking good for Steven as the episode came to a close, fear not as he did not die at the end of episode 3. Rather, it simply appears that he passed out after helping Khonshu turn back the night sky. It was definitely a shocking scene to see Steven collapse just as Khonshu disintegrated, but fans can rest at ease in knowing Steven did not die and there is still much more ahead in his story!
