20th Century Fox wasted Oscar Isaac in X-Men: Apocalypse and here’s why.

Over the years, 20th Century Fox has been criticized for their Marvel Comics movies. And with good reason. Two awful Dark Phoenix movies and multiple poor casting choices is enough, but let’s not forget about whatever was going on in the 2015 Fantastic Four movie. As a result of these many poor creative choices, fans are happy that the these characters’ futures are now in the hands of Marvel and Disney.

One of the biggest catastrophes we saw from the Fox X-Men series was what they did to En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse. The thing is that the lackluster take on the character shouldn’t be blamed on Oscar Isaac who portrayed him.

After a couple of episodes of Marvel Studios’ Moon KnightOscar Isaac proved to the world how perfect of a pick he was to play a Marvel character. In fact, he proved to the world how perfect a pick he was for Moon Knight, Steven Grant, and Marc Spector. Isaac is very versatile, having the ability to be frightened and submissive in one moment, while he could also switch to being confident and headstrong in another.

This should get viewers excited to see more of the show and Moon Knight himself. It also shows that Oscar Isaac could have been a better Apocalypse. That is, if he was given better material.

The Moon Knight star has shown that he’s an incredible actor. He played a creepy scientist in Ex Machina and did it well in a well-respected project, with the film scoring highly on Rotten Tomatoes for both critics and audience. He later played Poe Dameron in Star Wars episodes 7-9. People complain about the new Star Wars projects, but Isaac’s performance is one of the few things people don’t criticize. Combine the two projects just mentioned and his roles as Moon Knight and there’s no reason he shouldn’t have absolutely nailed his role as En Sabah Nur.

What 20th Century Fox missed with Oscar Isaac

Apocalypse is one of the X-Men’s greatest villains. The one thing that 20th Century Fox got right was showcasing how powerful he is. The abilities themselves, on the other hand, were off. Nevertheless, he’s always been strong enough to fight an entire team of X-Men. That’s where the positives stop.

One of the many things wrong about the portrayal in X-Men: Apocalypse was the title character’s personality. When you look back at Apocalypse’s best portrayals, one of the all-time greats came in X-Men: The Animated Series. He would give huge speeches about his superiority or how he couldn’t be stopped. He was dramatic and it made every scene captivating. Even as a kid, this writer knew what he was doing was special. Unfortunately, this was the biggest thing missing from X-Men: Apocalypse. We didn’t have the En Saba Nur speeches with big arm and hand gestures.

There was one moment in X-Men: Apocalypse where Oscar Isaac showed fans exactly what we wanted to see. It was when he was talking to Charles Xavier, as he really showed us the En Saba Nur we were missing. Imagine if Isaac was allowed to do this more instead of bringing in the Horsemen of Apocalypse. We could have seen more greatness from the incredible Oscar Isaac. Instead, we received a poorly-executed movie with a lackluster adaptation of Apocalypse, and the Horsemen of Apocalypse squeezed in and misused at the same time.

Next. X-Men: Bel-Air’s Coco Jones could be Storm for Marvel Studios. dark
