Nightwing’s Bruno Redondo says no to Tom Taylor for simple cover
By Mark Lynch
Tom Taylor offers an easy out for Nightwing comic book artist Bruno Redondo and gets a funny response.
One of the things that makes for a good creative person is their passion. You can tell how much someone loves a project in their work. With writers, you can feel it in their words. With artists, their pictures pop. The linework and attention to detail are all things that people appreciate.
Sometimes, the artwork alone is enough to get people to buy a comic book. Even if the writing isn’t good. However, when you have exceptional writing combined with extraordinary art, you get an unstoppable team. This is something that’s happened with writer Tom Taylor and artist Bruno Redondo.
Bruno Redondo and Tom Taylor first teamed up to write for Nightwing in issue No. 78 in March of 2021. Since then, we’ve had top-notch art. Nightwing No. 87 featured Bruno Redondo doing an entire issue where the entire issue follows Nightwing and Batgirl’s movements without stopping. You have to see it to believe how great it looks and flows.
Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo seem to have an amazing relationship. In the tweet above, you can see that Taylor acknowledged that Redondo had been working hard since they started. To make certain that he didn’t burn out his partner, he said that he could do a simple cover. Well, speaking of simple, Redondo simply said no. Then, Taylor shows his followers the beautiful cover for Nightwing No. 94 by Redondo.
The tweet made this writer happy. When two people can understand each other and create fantastic projects, it makes it better. Especially in comics. If you’re not reading Nightwing, you’re missing out. Redondo may not have drawn Nightwing No. 90 and 91, but the cover art is there and it’s flawless. Plus, Geraldo Borges is great at what he does as well. Wait until you see what he’s done with Flash at super-speed.
