In episode 5 of Moon Knight, viewers take a trip down memory lane with Marc Spector and Steven Grant. We learn about their past and so much more.

Episode 5 of Moon Knight starts right where the previous episode of the Disney Plus series left off, with Marc Spector and Steven Grant screaming at Taweret. Then, Marc is transferred back to the room with “Dr.” Arthur Harrow. After he tries to break out, he’s given an injection that knocks him out. Then, he and Steven are transferred back to Taweret where they learn they actually are dead and they have to balance the scales or their afterlife will be literal Hell.

While trying to balance their hearts, Marc and Steven learn their hearts aren’t complete. This leads to a trek down through their memories. Here are the biggest takeaways from Marc and Steven’s not so excellent adventure.

5. Nod to Black Panther

Marvel Studios doesn’t waste moments in their shows. If you pay attention, you’ll hear or see little easter eggs that pay homage to the comic book source material or previous Marvel CInematic Universe projects. Moon Knight viewers received one courtesy of Taweret.

While Taweret was explaining the afterlife to Marc and Steven, she talked about the ancestral plane and how beautiful it is. This leads this writer to think about Black Panther and his ancestral plane. This was done for a reason. Not only was this a nod to Black Panther the movie, but perhaps also to things to come in the MCU. We’ll see more of that plane in the future and maybe not just of former Black Panthers. Perhaps there could be more references in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
