The Flash: Who is Fast Track and is she joining The Flash?

Recently, set photos have leaked of an actress that appears to be Meena Dhawan aka Fast Track. We deduce what we can expect and whether it is her.

With The Flash having already been renewed for a ninth season on The CW the show will surpass Arrow as the longest-running show within the Arrowverse franchise.

As per Murphy’s Multiverse, it was reported that there were set photos of an unknown actress in a black suit that is very consistent with the style of most speedsters (vigilante or criminal) is the lightning bolt and its zig-zag accents spread across the costume though it seems like it could be Meena Dhawan aka Fast Track.

Who is Fast Track?

First appearing in The Flash Vol.5 No.3, Meena Dhawan was an employee that used to work for A.R.G.U.S, and sometime later was appointed director of the Speed Force testing center at STAR Labs. Dhawan was struck by lightning during a Speed Force Storm and was granted access to the Speed Force which allowed her to gain multiple abilities relating to moving at superhuman speeds.

Dhawan eventually started working with The Flash as her alter-ego, Fast Track, in order to train the new generation of speedsters. At the time, August Heart, who still worked for the CCPD had protected his secret identity as Godspeed. He also had been struck by lightning by the same uncanny event and was assisting the off-set of speedsters victimized by his alter-ego. Dhawan also talked The Flash into training Avery Ho (who may have appeared on the show.)

During “The Flash: Speed of Darkness” arc under Joshua Williamson’s run, Dhawan and The Flash infiltrate Black Hole after suspecting Dr. Joseph Carver to be God Speed. They eventually arrested Dr. Craver but not before he fought back against the duo as a Speed Force monster. For a brief time, The Flash dated Dhawan after the former revealed his identity to be Barry Allen.

Is Fast Track joining The Flash on The CW?

It is still not quite clear if the set photos are actually Deena Dhawan in the Arrowverse, however, her character has been referenced at least twice, once from a book she was the author of entitled Quantum Gravity & The Universe read by Chester P. Runk in the first episode of season 7 of The Flash and the scientist was mentioned by Avery in the sixth episode of the current season when she discussed the possibility of time-travel. She works at Fast Track Labs, presumably run by Dhawan.

The CW has a history of taking some liberties with the source material, so there is no guarantee the actress seen is actually Dhawan but the character has been foreshadowed and will likely appear on-screen sooner or later. Because the storyline involving Black Hole was wrapped in season 7, her introduction will be something different but perhaps similar to involving Godspeed.
