A new trailer teasing the Moon Knight season 1 finale seems to hint a second season of the Oscar Issac-led Marvel drama could be in the works.

The latest Marvel Studios Disney+ series Moon Knight has been incredible, to say the least, from the gorgeous cinematography, thrilling narrative, and sensational acting from the entire cast.

With the finale fast approaching with a release date of this Wednesday, May 4, it’s clear that Marvel fans are excited, and the future is exceptionally bright for the MCU.

Though one lingering question was brought to light when Marvel released a trailer for the finale of Moon Knight.

Is Moon Knight getting a Season 2?

Instead of labeling the series as a “limited series or series finale,” the tagline for the six-episode epic character study reads “season finale” instead. The sudden move raises questions over whether Marvel Studios is pulling a red herring,  a scenario that transpired with Loki which received a second season revealed during a surprise post-credit scene.

In many ways, it would make sense for the character and narrative of Moon Knight to traverse a sophomore season to further develop the brilliance of Oscar Isaac as the broken and complex nature of Marc Spector, who has DID. Not to mention each identity feels unique from the other, and Isaac is having the time of his life and warranting an Emmy award-winning performance.

There is too much lore of the comics to be packed into six episodes. Only to acknowledge the reception to the character has been incredible. It’s reflective of the MCU growing and adapting to honor the creative vision of directors and storytellers.

Then the landscape of the MCU, which many have felt was running stale for a time. Though with Moon Knight, the tone and product feel different, somewhat darker, and has a taste in the supernatural, which could lead to other avenues of the shared continuity. It feels all the pieces are in place for the character to continue further, but only time will tell, and from the footage shown, it’s clear notion Marvel is looking to stick the landing.

Now, we wait to see if Marvel feels confident for the character and tales of Marc Spector and Steven Grant to grace the landscape of streaming with a season 2 on Disney+ or if the character is ready to make his jump to the silver screen.

Moon Knight episodes 1-5 are currently available for streaming on Disney+, and the finale releases this Wednesday, May 4.
