The Flash season 8 truly shocked fans with its thirteenth episode. What does it mean for the show going forward?

The Flash season 8 has been an emotional rollercoaster. The veteran Arrowverse series kicked its eighth season off back in November with its five-episode event “Armageddon” and things have gotten worse for Team Flash ever since.

With Iris West-Allen’s Time Sickness getting worse and Deathstorm after Caitlin Snow, it’s been a tough time for the S.T.A.R. Labs crew. That, however, didn’t prepare them for the shocker that came in the season’s thirteenth episode “Death Falls”.

In a bid to stop Deathstorm from taking Caitlin as his Bride, Frost evolved into Hell Frost and defeated him with ease. Unfortunately, upon doing so, she collapsed and subsequently died when her ice healing wouldn’t kick in.

Is Killer Frost really dead on The Flash season 8?

While anything can happen in Central City, it does seem like The Flash might be planning on sticking by this death. The season’s fourteenth episode, which airs next week, is titled “Funeral For A Friend”, and it will deal with the fallout of the shocking moment.

According to the synopsis, Team Flash will use the debut of a new bank-robbing meta to distract themselves from a major loss. And now that we know who the major death is, what does it mean for the future of the show?

Have we seen the last of Killer Frost, or will The Flash come up with an elaborate way of bringing her back later in the season? Unfortunately, a recent TVLine interview with Danielle Panabaker suggests that it’s the former as the star felt the storyline would work best if it wasn’t a “fake-out” as it would feel more “truthful and honest” if it was her real send-off.

The Flash season 8 airs new episodes on The CW every Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
