There is an end-credit scene in Doctor Strange 2, but you won’t miss anything by skipping the end-credit scene and heading out early.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has officially hit theaters and the film definitely managed to pack quite the emotional gut punch.

We won’t get into all of the major spoilers — though you can read about them via our Marvel Cinematic Universe category — but there is one aspect of the film we’re ready to dive into: the end credit scene featured at the end of the movie.

In typical Marvel fashion, no trip to see a Marvel movie would be complete without some questions about what might be waiting for us after the film has come to an end and Multiverse of Madness is no different. The film features an incredible post-credits scene that featured an unexpected cameo and seems to have set up a future project, but what about the end-credit scene?

Is there an end credit scene in Doctor Strange 2?

Not only does Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness feature a post-credits scene, but the film also includes an end-credit scene that plays out after the film’s lengthy credits have been shown.

While there is an end-credit scene featured at the very end of the movie, we’re going to be blunt in noting that it’s not exactly what you might be hoping for. In fact, if you’re pressed for time, you could literally head out once the post-credits scene has aired as you won’t be missing anything significant in leaving the theater instead of sitting through the full credits.

Doctor Strange 2 end credit scene explained

After the credits have rolled, there is an end-credit scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is sort of a slow-burn to a joke introduced earlier in the film.

When Doctor Strange and America Chavez are transported to another universe, Strange tries to find his bearings while America tracks down some food to enjoy: pizza balls! Strange tells her she can’t just take food without paying for it, to which she replies that he’d be surprised to know most universes don’t charge people for food. This universe doesn’t seem to be one of them though.

A street vendor played by Bruce Campbell approaches the pair and yells at America for taking the food without paying. When Strange interjects to defend the young girl, the vendor begins hackling Strange’s attire and calls him a thief as well — suggesting he stole the attire which belonged to that universe’s Doctor Strange, who we later learn had died.

When it’s clear there’s no reasoning with the man, Strange casts a spell which results in the man beating himself up. He then begins to lead America away, which is when she asks if the guy will be okay and Strange replies that it will wear off… in three weeks.

It seemed like a throwaway moment, but it comes around full circle in the end credit scene when we return to the street where Strange left Campbell’s character. When we first see him, he’s still beating himself up as the magic finally wears off. Noticing the curse is over, he looks into the camera and exclaims, “It’s over!” which is when the film comes to an end.

While it was a fun moment to end on after the darker tones of the movie, it definitely wasn’t worth sticking around through the longer credits.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, May 6.
