Rumors of Ezra Miller’s speedy departure from The Flash franchise may be wrong.

There has been a lot of uncertainty around The Flash movie for the longest of times. The movie had been in development hell for years after Warner Bros. attempted to reboot the DC Extended Universe while also maintaining characters from its original iteration. It then went through multiple directors and even had to recast some roles. But through it all, Ezra Miller remained attached to it.

However, Miller’s recent arrests in Hawaii resulted in a lot of speculation about the actor’s future in the franchise – a conversation nobody expected to be having given that the film had finally completed production just months earlier.

A recent rumor suggested that Warner Bros. was looking into replacing Miller as the character with Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner star Dylan O’Brien, sparking a ton of conversation online, as people debated whether Miller, O’Bryan, or star of The Flash TV series Grant Gustin, should play the role in the DCEU.

Warner Bros. reportedly not replacing Ezra Miller as The Flash

However, there is reportedly no truth to that replacement rumor, with multiple people, including The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez and Variety’s Adam B. Vary, tweeting that Warner Bros. has no intention of recasting the role, all while reminding readers that The Flash wrapped five months ago.

There were previous reports suggesting that WB had to hold emergency meetings and were planning on moving away from the character in the future, but it seems that there aren’t any plans to replace Miller for now. Whether or not they will reprise the role in any future movies remains to be seen.

The Flash hits movie theaters on June 23, 2023.
