Daredevil series in development at Disney Plus (Is it season 4?)

Daredevil returns in a brand new Disney Plus series, likely set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s happening. It’s finally happening. Yes, Daredevil is coming back to us.

Matt Murdock’s lawyer-by-day/vigilante-by-night approach to fighting crime gripped viewers between 2015 and 2018 on the critically-acclaimed Netflix series (which also spawned its own shared universe all leading to The Defenders). However, the show’s cancellation as a casualty of Marvel’s deal with Netflix wrapping up in 2018 ended that era in abrupt fashion.

Now, however, The Man Without Fear will return in his very own Disney Plus series. According to Variety, the Marvel series is moving forward at the streamer and both Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached as writers and executive producers.

Is Disney Plus’ Daredevil series a sequel to the Netflix show?

Ever since Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin popped up Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye respectively, fans have been curious as to whether the actors are portraying the same versions of the characters we saw on the Netflix series or different versions of them. The various answers have differed over the time, so much so that the consensus seems to be somewhere in the vein of “same but different”.

That also appears to be the route that the Disney Plus Daredevil series is going. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will be ” a new but continued series”.

Rumors that surfaced last year suggested Disney Plus would lightly reboot the story to set it within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making sure that all of the characters would have similar experiences to what we saw in the Netflix series but that things may be slightly different to align with the MCU story.

So it may not be an exact season 4 of the Netflix show, but it will be great to spend a fourth season with these characters we love so much. Let’s just hope all of the Netflix cast will be back!
