Heartstopper renewed for two more seasons at Netflix
Netflix’s Heartstopper will return for not one but two seasons as the streamer proudly announces its continuation on social media.
Heartstopper season 2 has been on the minds of just about every fan who tuned into the show’s first season a number of weeks ago.
From passionate rewatches in the hopes of a continuation, to vocal fan campaigns online to convince the streamer to renew the show for another outing, Heartstopper season 2 was everywhere. What nobody was expecting was to be talking about Heartstopper season 3 today.
Netflix announced today that the critically-acclaimed teen drama has been renewed for both a second and third season. The official Netflix account made the heartfelt announcement, adding they were “elated” to announce that the show would return for two more installments.
Naturally, the news has been met with overwhelming positivity from fans, with the quick celebrations resulting in terms like “Heartstopper”, “TWO MORE SEASONS” and “We did it Joe” all trending on Twitter within minutes of the confirmation.
Heartstopper focuses on a friendship between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) that has the promise to blossom into much more than that. What comes next is a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance that is every bit as engaging as it is wholesome.
The show premiered on the streaming service on April 22 and racked up over 24 million views worldwide in the week after its release. It has gone on to become one of the few shows to garner a 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans and critics praising its light-hearted endearing and, most of all, positive approach to telling an LGBTQ+ love story.
