When omega level X-Men Storm and Vulcan (Gabriel Summers) fight only one will be victorious and this fight ends quicker than anyone would have thought.

In S.W.O.R.D. No. 6, Storm became the speaker for Arakko (formerly Mars) and this was a role she was born to play. However, in the first issue of X-Men Red, she was questioned by Isca the Unbeaten, who told her that Arrako was her planet and that everyone just lived there. Storm took that personally. She then destroyed her throne saying, “No thrones in Arakko! For there are greater things to be than a queen.”

She then joined Magento, new character Fisherman, and Sunspot and created the new Brotherhood.

X-Men Red No. 2 begins with Abigail Brand introducing her new team: Cable (field leader), Mentallo, Random, Manifold (who left the team soon after being introduced), Frenzy (who wasn’t happy about being taken away from diplomatic duty), and the omega level mutant Vulcan. The latter has already had issues on Mars in X-Men Red No. 1. Vulcan believes he should be treated with respect since he was once an emperor. He soon learns that his omega level and former ruler status means nothing to Storm.

While Arakko was being attacked, Abigail Brand’s team went to defend the mutant planet. The Arrakoans were not pleased with their help, telling them that they didn’t need it. Vulcan didn’t like that. He threatened the people he came to save, saying he was their emperor. That’s when the Brotherhood stepped in and showed him that his attitude wouldn’t be tolerated. More importantly, Storm showed up.

Storm and Vulcan had a fight. Two omega level mutants battling normally means a long bout. This wasn’t the case here. Storm found a flaw in Vulcan’s body. As they fought, Storm said, “You speak of a fire that burns inside you. A flame dancing in the wind. Inside me, child is the hurricane.” After defeating him, Storm says, “No thrones on Arakko, Emperor. Pass it on.”

Their first fight may have gone quickly, but the second one won’t. With the help/manipulation from Abigail Brand, Vulcan will be better prepared. Stay tuned to see how their next battle goes.
