The Flash is not coming to movie theaters in 2022
The Flash film will not be making its presence felt on the silver screen this year. Just when can fans expect the Ezra Miller-led production to premiere?
One of the most highly-anticipated movies on the superhero movie schedule today is The Flash. We say “today”, but let’s be honest, this movie has been on our radar for a lot longer than that.
The DCEU film is set to star Ezra Miller and it has been in development since 2014, when Warner Bros. were busy crafting their vision for the shared universe of DC superheroes. But while Miller has appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, his solo film has yet to materialize.
The good news is that the film has been completed, with production wrapping back in October 2021. The bad news, however, is that it won’t be arriving in movie theaters in November 2022 like it was initially supposed to.
That said, when can fans expect to see it on the big screen?
The Flash movie release date
The Flash will arrive in movie theaters on June 23, 2023. This comes after the film was delayed multiple times, with its initial release date being in 2018 before a sequence of moves culminated in Warner Bros. landing on a November 2022 release (before its current shift to June 2023).
The initial delays were the result of the film having a hard time finding a director. The more recent ones, however, are reportedly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workload of visual effects vendors.
Anticipation remains high for The Flash as the Andy Muschietti movie is set to reboot the DCEU. It also features the debut of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl and the returns of both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as their respective versions of Batman.
