She-Hulk trailer improved the CGI model following the fan backlash
A new seemingly modified version of the She-Hulk: Attorney At Law seems to have surfaced after initial backlash to the CGI in the original one.
There has been quite the reaction in regards to the quality of the CGI model for Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk in the trailer for the upcoming Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
The trailer made its long-awaited premiere at Disney’s Upfront presentation and it quickly sent the internet into meltdown, with “CGI” trending shortly afterward, as fans questioned the character’s look in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series.
Now, as reported by Digital Spy, there have seemingly been improvements made to the CGI design via an updated iteration of the trailer.
The updated trailer is available to watch on the Disney Plus website and from watching it, it’s clear that Marvel took the criticism seriously with some noticeable differences. That said, am I still hopeful that more changes to be made? Cautiously, I am optimistic, but we may have to wait and see.
Concerns over the She-Hulk CGI design
There has been criticism over the design of She-Hulk in terms of its quality, though not so much its accuracy. However, a VFX artist spoke out to say the CGI model was meant to be bigger although the head honchos at Marvel decided to make it “smaller”.
Following that message, a host of media outlets such as Mary Sue, iNews, and The Ringer just to name a few called out at how it was such a missed opportunity for the design to match more of a mega gamma-infused rage monster like the previous incarnation of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk rather than an ever-loving green, sassy, able-bodied hottie. While this writer can agree that the design and proportions are offish and a bit on the small side, I would have to mutually disagree on their ideas and the approach behind their sentiments.
Jessica Gao is serving as showrunner, while Dana Schwartz, Melissa Hunter, Cody Ziglar, Kara Brown, and Zeb Wells are writing the series with Kat Coiro and Anu Valia directing.
Gao, Coiro, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Brad Winderbaum are all credited as executive producers on She-Hulk.
Marvel Studios is producing the series and is expected to drop on Disney Plus on Aug. 17, 2022.
