8. Thor killed his grandfather

Comic book: Thor No. 600

Thor and Loki’s rivalry could be the best in comics. First, it’s gone on for eons. Second, it’s due to the lengths Loki’s jealousy will take him. It hit a new level after Asgard was put on Earth. Loki’s big plan was to get his brother kicked out of Asgard. Taking Bor (Odin’s father) from the past and putting him in the present with altered vision did the trick.

To Bor, his grandson (who he never met) looked like a demon with his son’s powers. Thor saw Bor but was unaware that it was his grandfather. All he knew was there was an unknown Asgardian destroying New York. After a hard fought battle, he killed his grandfather Bor – an Asgardian more powerful than he was.

7. Defeated with 3 words

Comic book: Original Sin

When heroes know Thor is coming, they know they’re safe. For villains, the crackle of his lightning means they’re in trouble. Nick Fury straddles the line between antagonist and protagonist. The one thing that’s different from him as a villain is that he doesn’t tremble at the sight of the God of Thunder because he knows how to defeat him.

Nick Fury knows more about the world than almost anyone. Since knowledge, this makes him one of the most dangerous people in the universe. He showed this when he defeated Thor with three words, saying “Gorr was right.”

Gorr told Thor that the world doesn’t need the gods. Despite Gorr being evil, some part of the Odinson believed him. With those words from Nick Fury, the Odinson was no longer worthy. This leads to Jane Foster becoming the new Thor.
