Iconic and renowned comic book scribe and artist, Frank Miller, has launched his very own publishing company, Frank Miller Presents.

As per the futurist, sci-fi, and tech-based website and blogger, Boing Boing, legendary writer, artist, and filmmaker, Frank Miller, has launched his very own comic book publishing company – (FMP) Frank Miller Presents as Chief Editor and President.

Before the media outlet began to explain the parameters surrounding what is presumably a creator-owned comics publisher, it stated what is the current state of affairs regarding the comic book industry in a world where the Big Two of both Marvel and DC struggle to maintain their audiences in the digital age while still receiving meteoric rises of popularity, although much is to be desired within regards to sales in the direct-market.

In the next breath, they detail what Miller’s intentions are with FMP. Before we continue, let us discuss who the key players aside from Miller are behind the scenes at the publisher: that is former co-publisher at DC, Dan DiDio, serving as publisher for FMP, and COO Silenn Thomas. From this columnist’s standpoint, it sounds as if Old Man Frank is doing what the Scotsman from across the pond did with Millarworld, the Magnificent Mark Millar (pun intended).

What the man behind notable works such as The Dark Knight Returns, 300, and Sin City, is planning for is to drop at least 2-4 new titles per year including another entry to the latter renowned titles such as Sin City 1858 and Ronin Book Two. Miller also is looking to collaborate with talent from different ends of an artist’s corner, from masters to self-made upstarts.

In the current state of the comic book industry, as it charts uncertain waters, with the introduction of cryptocurrency and NFTs (Non-fungible token) and the new platform that has become more and more attractive for writers especially outside of the Big Two – Substack. Manga, while its own thing is one of the beasts that is driving the force of more range of takes in its narrative other than capes and tights. How Miller comes into the game will be interesting.
