Batman and Robin crossover ends with the rebirth of a major villain
By Mark Lynch
The Batman, Robin, and Deathstroke Inc. crossover killed Slade Wilson and brought him back less than two weeks later.
The Deathstroke Inc, Robin, and Batman DC Comics crossover Shadow War brought together some of the most ruthless fighters and killers in the world. Batman, Slade Wilson (Deathstroke), the League of Shadows, Robin, Ghost-Maker, and more all fought. Some were battling to keep Talia al Ghul alive. Others were helping Talia to kill Deathstroke. In the end, Talia al Ghul kills Slade.
Soon after, Talia and Slade have their one-on-one battle. It concludes with Talia winning and killing Slade. Right after that, readers discover that it wasn’t Slade who killed her father (Ra’s al Ghul). It was the former Markovian Prince Geo-Force. After defeating Geo-Force, Talia wanted him dead for killing her father. She was stopped by her son Damian Wayne (Robin).
Once everything calmed down, Talia al Ghul made good on her word. She turned herself in to the Detention Enforcement Officer for past crimes. However, Batman and Robin aren’t concerned. They know Talia can take care of herself.
That wasn’t the end of the story. Deathstroke Inc brought their leader Slade to a Lazareth Pit. The group of killers expected him to come back to life. They didn’t expect for the liquid in the pit to turn from green to black and for Slade to arise and say, “I have a new contract to finish. We’re killing everyone.” There was also a black goo-like substance on Slade. This could tie right into DC Comics’ Dark Crisis.
According to Dark Crisis writer Joshua Williamson, Deathstroke and Nightwing are on a collision course in Dark Crisis No. 2. With their history, it’s going to be one of the best fights of the year. It’s not likely that either of them will die. However, this writer expects Deathstroke to try and ruin what Dick Grayson is doing in Bludhaven.
