Fans are counting down the days until the final episodes of The Walking Dead begin airing on AMC and we don’t blame them. However, the wait for The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 is going to continue beyond June as The Walking Dead will not return this month to AMC.

From the moment episode 16 came to a close on April 3, fans have been waiting for AMC to set a release date for the premiere of the final batch of Walking Dead episodes. While there was hope among some that the episodes might arrive sometime this summer, fans are going to have to stick it out for a few more weeks.

It’s not too surprising as The Walking Dead has traditionally aired during the spring or fall months of the year. Sure it would have been nice for episode 17 to arrive this summer when so many shows are on break, but there is some good news — we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for the show’s return.

The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 release date updates

At his time, AMC has yet to release an official release date for The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 but it has been confirmed the episode will arrive sometime this fall.

If history repeats itself, The Walking Dead should return sometime in October 2022. In fact, it seems likely we’ll see the episode premiere on either Sunday, Oct. 2 or Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. Early October has long been a staple for new episodes of The Walking Dead to debut so it’s possible that trend could continue again this year.
