Spider-Man finally makes his presence felt on Disney Plus in the UK, with a selection of the Sony movies coming to the streaming service this month.

Ever since Disney Plus made its debut and unleashed the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s library on a new market of viewers, fans around the world have been asking the same question: Where is Spider-Man?

The answer to that question has always been a complicated one because, although the web-slinging wonder is a Marvel Comics character, Sony have owned the movie rights to him for years, meaning that it’s been difficult getting him housed on Disney Plus along with his Marvel Studios friends. And that’s particularly problematic for those hoping to watch all of the MCU movies, only to realize that Spidey’s solo offerings aren’t available.

The belief is that they will find their way onto the service in the US in the future, especially as Sony did recently sign a new deal that would see new theatrical releases and existing films go to Disney Plus, Hulu and the linear Disney channels (but only after a period on Netflix).

However, that gap is seemingly starting to be bridged worldwide, as Disney Plus in the UK will be adding a selection of Spider-Man movies to its line-up on June 17. A monumental decision, no doubt, but which ones can we expect to see?

Which Spider-Man movies are coming to Disney Plus in the UK?

  • Spider-Man (2002)
  • Spider-Man 2 (2004)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

In looking at that line-up, it’s safe to say that the biggest absences are the second and third films in the Tom Holland-led MCU trilogy: Far From Home and No Way Home.  However, the third installment in Sam Raimi’s Tobey Maguire-led trilogy, Spider-Man 3, is also absent from the list (though that one is available to watch on Netflix UK).

As for whether the US and other territories will immediately follow in the UK’s footsteps, that remains to be seen. But it does signify the beginning of a promising new era in which Sony’s Spidey movies can finally be found on Disney Plus somewhere in the world – something that will no doubt make Marvel fans in the UK very, very happy.

The five Spidey movies will be available to stream on Disney+ in the UK from Friday, June 17.
