6. Becca brought out the best in him

The first time Butcher met Becca, he had two black eyes. She giggled and said he looked like a panda. Butcher took it all in his stride and even made a joke about it. The two began talking and went on their first date soon after. While on the date, she stopped him from getting into a fight just by touching his hand. A moment that changed him forever. Later, she stopped him from drinking altogether. Overall, Becca made him a better person.

For the first time in Butcher’s life, he found someone who loved him more than a family member. She didn’t treat him like an idiot by recognizing the intelligence behind the anger. He responded by treating her like a queen. It’s the reason why Butcher lost it when she died.

5. Started a diary after joining The Boys

Becca Butcher’s death hit Billy harder than anything else in life. She was the only thing that kept his anger and dark side in check. Very much like Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, he began his hatred for people with powers. Also like Punisher, Butcher kept a journal, except Butcher’s wasn’t a war journal. He was writing to his dead wife in her diary.

Butcher was trying to justify what he was doing. In some ways, writing in Becca’s diary helped keep Butcher from going too far. However, in the end, it didn’t matter. Butcher went to a place where he almost went too far.
