2. Killed most of The Boys
When The Boys: The Bloody Doors Off started, we saw that Butcher killed Love Sausage (a supe that he respected) and Greg Mallory. Both of them could have stopped him from executing his plan. Later, M.M. finds out what Butcher’s doing and tries to stop him. Butcher puts a grenade in M.M.’s mouth, killing his best friend. After that, Frenchie and The Female were killed in an explosion planted by Butcher. The only person left was Hughie who realized something. Butcher originally recruited Hughie to stop him.
1. Picked Hughie to stop him
In the first volume of The Boys, Butcher tells Hughie that he’s always wanted a little brother. Later, the readers find out that Billy Butcher had a little brother. Someone with the same morals and kindness as Hughie. Beyond that, everything that Butcher did was to toughen Hugie up. Everything from showing him the video of Starlight on her first day with The Seven to making him kill A-Train. All of this was to prepare Hughie to stop him. Thankfully for people around the world, it worked.
Butcher was paralyzed after taking a fall saving Hughie. After that, he taunted Hughie saying that he visited Hughie’s parents and killed them in their home. An enraged Hugie kills Butcher to avenge his parents. What he didn’t know is that Butcher didn’t kill them. In fact, he visited and spoke highly about Hughie. Even in death, Butcher’s plan worked. Hughie stopped the death of millions of people.
