Obi-Wan Kenobi has entertained Star Wars fans for weeks, but will it return for a seventh part? Is there going to be a second season?

Ewan McGregor officially returned to his most famous role when Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered in May.

The legendary Jedi Master of the Star Wars franchise made a triumphant comeback in his self-titled Disney Plus series, which premiered on the streaming service with a special double episode debut last week and returned with a new episode this week. Reception has been incredibly positive, with both fans and critics believing that audiences should expect the unexpected with this one.

The miniseries is set about a decade after McGregor’s previous work in the Star Wars film series (the prequel films The Phantom MenaceAttack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) and about a decade before the original Star Wars trilogy.

Is there an episode 7 of Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Disney has yet to confirm if Obi-Wan Kenobi will return for a season 2, but Ewan McGregor certainly sounds hopeful for the possibility. In an interview with British GQ, the Kenobi star said that he really hopes they do another, saying that if he “could do one of these every now and again” he would “just be happy about it”.

Whether it happens remains to be seen as Obi-Wan Kenobi was conceived as a standalone narrative – something that both executive producer Joby Harold and Hayden Christensen confirmed in separate interviews. However, like McGregor, Christensen would also “love to continue with” his character [Anakin Skywalker], adding that “there is more story to explore”.

With that in mind, it’s clear that the first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi was designed to tell a complete story, but that certainly doesn’t rule out a second season and it’s clear that the cast – and the fans – would be open to it.
