Will there be a season 4 of The Umbrella Academy?

The Umbrella Academy season 3 is streaming now on Netflix,  but after the shocking way in which the new season ended, it’s no surprise at all to see that fans are already questioning what’s to come next for the comic book adaptation.

Following its release in February 2019, The Umbrella Academy was quickly renewed for a second season which arrived just over a year later in July 2020. Season 2 proved to be even more successful for Netflix with ratings rising to new highs leading to a season 3 renewal shortly after.

While season 3 was greenlit shortly after the release of season 2, fans had to wait a bit longer than anticipated due to a delayed start to production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the series was able to resume production in early 2021 paving the way for season 3 to finally drop on June 22, 2022.

Now that season 2 has dropped, all eyes are on what’s next for the beloved series and whether a fourth season is coming.

Is The Umbrella Academy canceled?

No, The Umbrella Academy has not been canceled by Netflix. At the moment, Netflix has not made any official decision about the future of its hit comic book series but the series has not been canceled and very much remains in contention for renewal!

Is The Umbrella Academy season 4 happening?

Although Netflix has not yet renewed The Umbrella Academy for a fourth season, the odds of the series being renewed for season 4 look quite promising.

The Umbrella Academy remains a strong performer among viewers with a passionate fandom who continue to show up season after season to enjoy new episodes. We also can’t see Netflix canceling the series after the season ended with such a major cliffhanger and even added a post-credit tease.

Considering the series is starting to approach the mark in which Netflix tends to bring its shows to a close — that being the 4-6 season range — it’ll be interesting to see how many more seasons the series might have in the tank. Regardless, there is definitely still enough story for at least another season or 2.

Once Netflix has confirmed the show’s future has been confirmed, we’ll be sure to provide an update in this piece but we feel confident another season of The Umbrella Academy should be coming.
